Kids Indoor Games

BareFoot Bowling

This indoor version of the classic Italian bowling game calls for aim, balance, and one bare foot!

WHAT YOU NEED:
socks
hat or bowl

HOW TO PLAY:
Have each player remove a sock, ball it up, and label it with tape if it looks the same as another. Set a hat or bowl as a target on one side of a room and mark a tossing line on the other (the farther away from the target, the better).

Players then take turns standing at the line on one foot trying to toss their sock into the target. Whoever succeeds (or, if no one does, gets closest) gets 1 point. The first person to score 5 wins.

Beat the Clock Game

Challenge players to find all the "time bombs" before they go off.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Alarm clocks and timers

HOW TO PLAY:
1. Gather several loudly-ticking alarm clocks and timers and set them to go off in fifteen minutes.

2. Hide the clocks throughout the house or in a couple of rooms (in the hamper, your kids' dressers, the beds of toy dump trucks).

3. Players must race against the clocks, trying to turn off the alarms before they ring.

Candy Tic-Tac-Toe

Taste sweet victory (or loss) when you play this candy variation of tic-tac-toe.

WHAT YOU NEED:
Twist licorice
Paper plate
2 different kinds of gummy animals

HOW TO PLAY:
1. To assemble their game, the kids arrange four pieces of licorice on a plate in the classic tic-tac-toe grid.

2. Instead of X's and O's, one player uses gummy frogs and the other uses gummy bears.

3. Then they follow the familiar rules of tic-tac-toe with one exception: The winner eats all!
